A New Beginning

Hello, and thank you to everyone at the HART-Empire Network for making me feel so welcome. I’m Tina, and I have the daunting job of taking over for Lesly Maranan. I have read through all her posts and not only enjoyed them but have learned quite a bit as well.

Battling Cancer addresses a facet of who I am and where I have come from. I suppose the same is true of anyone who is reading the posts. It doesn’t define me, but it has shaped me and continues to guide my life. I am who I am today because of those patients, family members and medical staff who have touched my life. Becoming part of the support team working with someone “battling the monster” cancer is a unique experience. It is an exhaustive and very real give and take.

I am not an expert but I have spent a good portion of my life, first as a nurse aide, then as medical surgical nurse, then a director of nurses and finally as home health and oncology R.N. dealing directly with patients who were battling cancer. I’m very excited about this blog and take the responsibility of researching and delivering new information to you, the reader, very seriously. Additionally, I have accumulated a small backlog of anecdotal tales from my journey to share as well.

Again, thank you to the HART-Network Empire for this opportunity and I look forward to your comments and your suggestions here at the Battling Cancer blog.

Janet,
Do read today’s post.
I think we are all defined differently for different reasons. :) I am defined at times by my fiction writing. Thanks so much for dropping by.

Hi to Pam and thanks for stopping by. I am very excited and frankly every time I lay down I think of something new I want to share in a post. Such a newbie. Stop by and let me know how I am doing when you get a chance.

I’m interested in what you’ve got planned, Tina. I love knowing there’s a place to go to find answers. I have a good friend who is recently diagnosed with breast cancer and is just about to begin daily radiation treatments.

What a great resource for those of us with family members facing cancer. Sometimes we don’t know where to turn for answers. Thanks, Tina, (and lately Lesly) and Hart-Empire, for filling a need.

I just discovered this site and am looking forward to your input, Tina, especially since my father-in-law is undergoing tests for possible kidney and lung cancer right now. We don’t know yet what he’ll be facing, but I’ll be coming here for info.

Thanks.
Missy
